The P(L)CMH-e™ App is a tool for use by health professions students who are training in primary care offices. It has been developed in two versions, First Impressions and Critical Appraisal, and both versions of the app involve student analysis and reflection regarding the degree to which practices meet the principles of the patient (and learner) centered medical home. It is intended to (1) provide feedback to those practices, even as the student him/herself learns the principles of the Patient Centered Medical Home, (2) provide the practices with evidence of improvement in operationalizing these principles through repetitive measures over time, and (3) recognize those practices that are truly both patient and learner-centered. Currently the App’s use is restricted to participants in a research project designed to test its effectiveness in medical education.
